Prof. Dr. İsmihan Bayramoğlu participated in the "Forum of Azerbaijani Scientists Living Abroad"
Prof. Dr. İsmihan Bayramoğlu participated in the Forum of Azerbaijani Scientists Living Abroad, held in Baku from September 8-12, representing Turkey. The forum was organized by the State Committee for Work with Diaspora and the World Azerbaijani Scientists Association. More than 80 renowned scientists from 23 countries were invited to this event. The forum aimed to develop strategies and recommendations for the advancement of science and education in Azerbaijan and to discuss how Azerbaijani scientists who have gained experience worldwide can contribute to this field. The panels and roundtable meetings were highly productive, and intensive work was carried out over two days. The suggestions will be systematically compiled and published later.
Additionally, during the forum, discussions were held about what steps should be taken for the newly established Karabakh University, which has 1,250 students, to quickly become a global university. On September 13, forum participants traveled from Baku to Karabakh in three buses under police escort. Due to security reasons, only residents and individuals with special permission can currently enter Karabakh. After a six-hour journey passing through Khojaly and Askeran, the group arrived in Khankendi. The participants visited Karabakh University, which spans 60 hectares and is considered a significant project by the Azerbaijani government, and held meetings with the university's rector and deans. During the visit, a letter from the forum participants to the President of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, was read, and afterward, the group proceeded to Shusha.
Reflecting on the trip, Prof. Dr. İsmihan Bayramoğlu shared her thoughts as follows: “When we entered the liberated lands, the roads, new living areas, and sites were impressive, and it’s commendable how much has been accomplished in such a short time. The most moving moment for me was seeing the sign that said, 'You are on liberated lands.' It reminded me of the sign on the Afyonkarahisar-Ankara-Izmir road in Turkey, which says, 'You are on the land liberated by the Republic,' and this symbolized the brotherhood between the two nations and their shared fate. Azerbaijan and Turkey are brothers, and this will remain forever. When Karabakh was occupied, I was in Azerbaijan, and when we visited liberated Agdam, Khojaly, Khankendi, and Shusha, I felt an indescribable mix of sorrow, joy, and pride. These lands, watered by the blood of our martyrs and keeping their spirit alive, will forever belong to Azerbaijan. The remarkable development I’ve seen everywhere in Azerbaijan is proof that the government's approaches are correct, and Azerbaijan will achieve even greater success in science, education, and technology.”
