A Meaningful Contribution from the Department of Mathematics to World Statistics Day
On Monday, October 20, 2025, the Department of Mathematics at İzmir University of Economics organized a well-attended event in celebration of World Statistics Day. The event attracted great interest from both academics and students.
The distinguished invited speaker of the event was Prof. Dr. Serkan ERYILMAZ, Rector of Atılım University, who delivered an insightful talk titled “Statistics in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Needs and Trends in the Context of Education and Research.”
As the host speaker, our esteemed faculty member Prof. Dr. İsmihan BAYRAMOĞLU enriched the event with her opening remarks, in which she emphasized the fundamental role of statistics in scientific research and discussed the discipline’s contemporary directions.
We were also honored by the attendance of Prof. Dr. Yusuf Hakan ABACIOĞLU, Rector of İzmir University of Economics, and Prof. Dr. Neslihan KANSU YETKİNER, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.
As the Department of Mathematics, we take great pride and satisfaction in hosting such a well-attended and fruitful event, which highlighted the crucial importance of statistics in both scientific advancement and societal development.
