Special event for World Mathematics and Pi Day

İzmir University of Economics (IUE) , Department of Mathematics celebrated "World Mathematics and Pi Day" online with the participation of academicians and students from different universities. Dean of IUE Faculty of Arts and Sciences Prof. Dr. İsmihan Bayramoğlu talked about the importance of the interdisciplinary structure of mathematics and also explained the successes achieved as a department. 90 people took part in the event, where the importance of mathematics and its development in our country was discussed. 

Many faculty members and students from Turkey and abroad showed interest in the event especially Baku State University, Ostrava University, Middle East American University, Koç University, Boğaziçi University, Dokuz Eylül University, Celal Bayar University, Ege University, Yaşar University, İzmir Institute of Technology, Democracy University, Beykoz University, Aydın Adnan Menderes University. 

Boğaziçi University retired faculty member Prof. Dr. Alp Eden and Koç University. faculty member Prof.Dr. Varga Kalantarov attended. Prof. Dr. Eden talked about the development and progress of mathematics in our country, and offered many sources of guidance to young mathematicians. Prof. Dr. Varga Kalantarov, on the other hand, included many scientists who made important contributions to mathematics in his speech and talked about the studies inspired by the Pi number.

At the end of the event, IUE Head of Department of Mathematics,Prof. Dr. G. Yazgı Tütüncü, made a speech emphasizing the meaning and importance of the day by thanking the participants. Participation certificates were also sent by e-mail to the people who took part in the event.
